Actuators

A robot must move. Using standard servo's is one of the best options to put your robot into motion. These servo's come in variety of mechanical sizes. In addition, we supply complete wheel drive units.
A recent development are the digital servo's. The position feedback of these servo's is not realised with a potentiometer, but with a digital encoder. These servo's are slightly more expensive, but much more stable at the same time.

The control of the servo's is usually performed via one of the following three protocols:

Model PWM
Variable pulse width of 1.5 to 2.5 ms with 100 Hz frequency
Full 0-100% PWM duty cycle at 25 kHz for example:
Is used for PWM servo amplifiers for driving heavier DC servomotors and -drive motors.

Bioloid 3 wire protocol
This type of servo's operate with a bi-directional protocol. Servo's are chained in a bus with power and data of servo to servo. The Bioloid servo's have multiple ways to operate.

There are software examples for almost all micro controllers, to connect to- and control these servo's.
